Xavier machiana

Renowned not only for his musical prowess but also for his roles as a composer, actor, social activist, and TV presenter, Xavier Machiana has made significant contributions to both the Mozambican music scene and various social initiatives.

His role as the vocalist, guitarist and composer for the band Rockfeller's marked a significant milestone in the Mozambican rock scene.

The band garnered fame, performing over 200 shows and thrilling audiences of more than 10,000 in venues across the country, earning numerous accolades along the way.


Throughout his illustrious career, Xavier Machiana has had the privilege of sharing stages with iconic artists such as Bono Vox (U2), Sandra St. Victor, Kool & The Gang, UB40 and many others, enriching his musical journey with valuable experiences and insights.


Xavier Machiana has enchanted audiences with captivating singles such as "GRACE," "PUSH!," and "SERA?", all produced by João Carlos Schwalbach at Ekaya Productions. These tracks feature exceptional collaborations with renowned artists like John Caban and Eli Menezes, showcasing Machiana's diverse musical range. Notably, he teamed up with fellow musician Tete on the single "LUGAR," produced by Rui Pinto Martins, further cementing his position in the industry.


As the founder and lead vocalist of the band INDIGO BLUE, Machiana has brought together a collective of six talented individuals, each contributing unique cultural and musical influences. On stage, INDIGO BLUE delivers a mesmerizing blend of Rock, Jazz, Gospel, Soul, and infectious Funk, captivating audiences with their dynamic performances.

INDIGO BLUE released recently their first single named "GO" on all platforms, composed and written by Xavier Machiana.

Xavier Machiana founded THE OFFICE, a professional and modern music production studio in Maputo, Mozambique. A space for music creators to develop their craft with international standards.


Machiana served as the charismatic host of "No Sofa do Xavier", a popular talk show airing during prime time on Saturdays on STV, Mozambique's largest private national channel. The program engages viewers with thought-provoking discussions and lively topics, showcasing his ability to connect with diverse audiences.


Beyond his musical contributions, Xavier Machiana is a dedicated social activist. He actively participates in initiatives aimed at adolescents and young people in urban and rural settings throughout Mozambique. As a spokesperson for various social causes, he uses his platform to advocate for meaningful change.


Xavier Machiana's talents extend into the realm of advertising and acting, where he has produced jingles for leading brands and appeared in films, series, and commercials across Mozambique, South Africa, and Norway. His distinctive voice has become a familiar presence in numerous TV and radio spots.


With a degree in Applied Linguistics and Communication, Xavier Machiana's professional journey also includes over 25 years as a Project Manager and Specialist in Behavior Change Communication, collaborating with both national and international NGOs.
